PDLD Introduces 905nm Pulsed Laser Devices

PD-LD, Inc., the worldwide leader in Volume Bragg Grating (VBG) technology, has introduced a wavelength stabilized and frequency narrowed line of 905nm pulsed laser diodes. The new products are expected to have wide appeal for range finding and sensor applications, as well as military programs, ceilometers and Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR).

"By combining our award-winning VBG technology with a readily available off the shelf components we have raised the bar in terms of laser diode performance," said PD-LD CEO, Dr. Vladimir Ban. "The 905nm devices offer customers an excellent upgrade from their current devices."

Working with commercially available laser chips, PD-LD has integrated its Volume Bragg Gratings to fix the wavelength and narrow the optical spectrum to less than 0.5nm. VBG effectively narrows the spectral bandwidth by an order of magnitude, from 5nm down to 0.5nm Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM).

Range finding applications have enjoyed some of the most impressive benefits of the new technology, as the addition of the VBG element allows end users to employ narrow band pass filters on their receivers in order to reduce unwanted optical background noise.
