Adaptive Marketing LLC (http://www.adaptivemarketing.com/)'s174;, an industry leader in membership programs, recently gave something back to its local community. These days, when people are worrying about everything from hanging onto their jobs and homes to trying to salvage what'ss left of their 401(k) plans, IRAs, and other retirement savings, there are still plenty of others who have just one main worry -- survival.
In a world where keeping up with Joneses often eats up large chunks of household budgets, Adaptive Marketing knows that there are many people who don'st know where their next meal will
come from -- let alone which car or house to buy. That'ss why a group of Adaptive Marketing (http://jobs.myspace.com/a/ms-jobs/list/q-Adaptive+Marketing) employees offered their time recently to help those in need,
offering hands-on help to the Norwalk Emergency Shelter in Norwalk, CT.
* Cook and care. Comprised of nine ardent volunteers, Adaptive Marketing (http://www.adaptivemarketing.com/memprogs_persproperty.asp)'ss Product Management team shopped, cooked (supervised by the
Norwalk Emergency Shelter staff), and helped serve lunch for about 150 grateful diners. One Adaptive Marketing employee said, The economy is pushing people to the brink, and many shelters
cannot keep up with the demand for food. Fortunately, he added, We had their chef to guide us through.
* Dealing with a dearth of donations. It'ss probably no surprise that a sluggish economy affects virtually all aspects of daily life; non-profit organizations like the Norwalk Emergency
Shelter have been particularly hard hit. Our food supplies are nearly depleted, and our donations are unusually low, said the shelter'ss Executive Director, Carole Antonetz. And the real
cold weather hasn'st even arrived yet. Antonetz is right. Because all charitable organizations depend greatly on fund-raising dollars, there may not be enough to go around -- especially
in an economic shortfall (http://www.creditfyi.com/Creditpedia/Credit-Basics/Economic-Crisis-Reaches-Non-Profit-Sector.htm).
To help address the drop in charitable giving, Adaptive Marketing (http://ap9consumergateway.typepad.com/ap9_weblog/adaptive_marketing_llc/index.html) donated $5,000
to the Norwalk Emergency Shelter.
* Giving is receiving. The holidays are still a few months away, but in an effort to give something back, Adaptive Marketing is planning to donate money as well as time to the Norwalk
Emergency Shelter. Potential future plans also include helping the shelter in other ways * with, for example, both food and toy drives. The shelter first opened back in 1983, and in
addition to providing food and clothing, the facility also has beds for nearly 100 people.
* Everybody wins. The beauty of community programs is that they help create classic win-win situations: Businesses like Adaptive Marketing can give back to the community, organizations
like the Norwalk Emergency Shelter can grow in reputation and service, and -- first and foremost -- people in need can get help.
In an uncertain world, helping others can be both important and rewarding, notes Adaptive Marketing.
