Back in the Bronx Announces Drive Through Your Old Neighborhood

A new online technology from Google combined with an old technology from Kodak allows former Bronxites to see their old neighborhoods as they have never seen them before. The new site, which can be found at http://www.backinthebronx.com allows its online users to take a virtual drive through the Bronx, NY or be transported back in time to see how the Bronx looked during its heyday.

The virtual drive system works by allowing users to enter an address that automatically brings up a picture of the address entered. Next to the photograph are controls that allow the user to take a virtual 'scar's drive through the area without getting out of the comfort of their computer chair.

This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen says Harvey Brandwein, a former Bronxite who used the system when he was in Florida. I haven'st been back to the old neighborhood in years; it brings back so many fond memories of my old stomping ground where I played stickball.

After you 'sDrive Through The Bronx's you also have the option to tap into the Bronx 'sPicture Gallery's, which contains close to 7,000 vintage photos from the decades of the 40'ss, 50'ss, and 60'ss.

The site also compares pictures of the old Bronx to the new Bronx, which shows how dramatic the change has been in the last 60 or so years.

Just imagine if this technology could be applied everywhere in the United States.
