Philadelphia, PA May 2, 2008 -- Philadelphia Senior Center (PSC), and host sponsor EXIT REALTY "The Waterfront Group," celebrates "Older Americans Month" with the "5th Annual Coffee Cup Exhibition and Reception," on Thursday, May 15, 2008, from 5:30pm - 8:30pm, at City Hall, Broad and Market streets, Philadelphia, PA. The benefit will feature original art by local and national artists, hors' d'oeuvres, spirits, live entertainment, and a silent auction.
Funds raised from the "Coffee Cup Exhibition" will fund 70,000 meals served at PSC each year and 6,000 rides provided annually. Additionally the funds will support the 80 weekly classes
and activities offered including belly dancing, Tai Chai, yoga, mosaics, pottery, computer instruction, fitness instruction, and a new civic engagement program, "Ready to Serve."
"The Coffee Cup Exhibition is Philadelphia Senior Center's single largest fundraising activity to help more than 5,000 members who depend on community programs," said Chief Executive
Officer Robert J. Groves, MA, MPH. "The Exhibition is also a unique forum to showcase works of our seniors who participate in our 'Arts on the Avenue' program."
The Exhibition will feature functional pottery, culinary-themed mixed media, and handmade jewelry by artists from Philadelphia Senior Center, the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial and the
Clay Studio. The exhibition also will feature photographs from Russ Hickman Photography.
The Sofitel Philadelphia Luxury Hotel will provide petit French pastries. Wine and beer will be provided by Blue Mountain Winery and Philadelphia Brewing Company. Coffee will be provided
by Starbucks.
Live entertainment includes music by the Samantha Rise Roberson Quartet. Master of ceremonies for the evening will be Frederick J. Hart. A silent auction will feature airline tickets from
Southwest Airlines, a tour of Washington DC, sports memorabilia, hotel and dining certificates, and men's and women's jewelry.
Tickets to the event are $75 per person, and $55 for seniors 55 and older. Sponsorships begin at $25 and range up to $2,500. To make a reservation or donation, please contact Senior
