Brampton Adult Soccer Mens Week 7 Review
June 24, 2005 -- Division I:
While KCM Ambassadors continued their winning ways with a 7-0 win over FC Oakville and River Plate kept chase with a 7-2 win over the Enforcers, some of their competitors stumbled.
Richview United hit a speed bump on their way back up the table as they encountered a Warriors side that, while considered underdogs in the match, seemed more then well prepared to meet a league powerhouse. The resulting 2-1 win for the Warriors was a substantial hit to Richview and could possibly serve the Warriors well if they can repeat the performance against similarly strong opponents.
While there was a top level shift in the standings, The A-Team's 4-3 win over the Structform Strikers and Xavier United's 3-1 win over the Loaded Gunnerz, allowed them to maintain pace at the top, retaining their 3rd and 4th positions.
The main dynamic atop the table was the continued rise and fall motion of both Armada I and KFC. Armada I, unable to maintain the consistency of their Div.I compatriots, managed to pick themselves up after last week's shoddy performance and handily defeated Stingers FC with a 5-1 result. KFC on the other hand appeared a bit truer to form as they came of their 2 game losing skid and edged out a surprising Super Strikers squad with a 2-1 final score. The Super Strikers, after making great strides to reach the top end of the table, were particularly hard hit with this loss as a great number of other results, didn't go their way. June 26th's match against Richview should speak volumes.
B.M.A. made headway as they try to repair a season at risk;
a 5-1 result against Sunday League Records FC was good enough for their first win of the season and steady 3 spot climb in the Division I standings. SLRFC on the other hand, managed to pop out of 16th place as their goal difference, a goal better than Oakville's, allowed them to climb to 15th.
Division II:
Nisim International managed one of the larger upsets of the season, so far, as they convincingly beat Sur Latino 3-2. Sur Latino's loss left the door open for three sides. First, the Samba Squad, who added to their win streak with a 5-0 win over Ocean's 11, gained even more ground on the competition; Secondly, Armada II and the Unknown Strikers each jumped ahead a position as Sur Latino dropped to 4th. Armada II's 8-0 defeat over Bullets FC and Unknown's even more impressive 12-0 defeat over Jets-Go FC has a lot of people speculating as to who will come out on top. Since Samba has already defeated Unknown (Week 2: 2-1) and Unknown have already defeated Armada II (Week 1: 4-3), the match that could appear to hold the most weight in the near future is Week 11's Samba Squad vs. Armada II showdown. (However, all are wisely cautioned not to discount the role that Sur Latino will have to play in coming weeks; as they get set to play all three of the top teams mentioned above in consecutive match-ups, starting with Week 12.)
The Chops continued their rise to the top as they nestled into 5th with a 6-0 routing of Sporting FC. Sporting on the other hand, was as unfortunate as the Chops were fortunate and thus plunged 2 spots to 12th.
Brampton Athletic had a bit of a carnival as they netted 7 times to Los Diablos Locos 1 - the three points were well earned and allowed Athletic to swap spots with Sporting.
In a struggle between some top half teams, Manz United put the brakes on for FC Cruzados and shut them down with a 2-1 score line. This ends Cruzados recent streak, but they shouldn't be counted out of the running.
The final match of the week ended un-dramatically as Team B FC deftly dealt B.T. Rangers their 7th loss of the season in a one sided 7-1 affair.
Week 8's Key Match Ups:
- Loaded Gunnerz v. B.M.A. - The Gunnerz need to find a way to keep their occasional flare consistent while B.M.A. look to get back on track while riding the coat tails of last weeks win.
- KCM Ambassadors v. The A-Team - A whole slew of Division I sides will be hoping for an A-Team win here; just the same, the A-Team themselves can make a drastic impact at the top of the table if they can pull it off. Don't expect KCM's stingy back 4 to make it easy for them.
KFC v. River Plate - With one eye on the A-Team, KFC will look to run River Plate into the ground. This match could be one of the defining moments of the season.
Nisim International v. The Chops - Still riding high off their win over Sur Latino, Nisim will once again look to play the spoiler by derailing The Chops from their 5 game win streak.
Richview United v. Super Strikers - REMATCH! Last season's final was a 4-3 win in favour of Richview. Both of these sides lost this past week and will be looking to make up ground. Expect a great, if not friendly, match.
Warriors v. Stingers FC - The Warriors can make up some lost ground here, but the Stingers shouldn't be in a mood to just roll over and make it easy. This match promises to be fast paced.
