If you are a member of a non-profit organization, of which many soccer clubs are, you are entitled to view documents pertinent to the club .

Some of these are:
IRS - 1023 - Non-profit application
IRS - 990 - Yearly financial report to IRS
Club Bylaws - What does the Club believe in
Club Checking Account - Where is your money going
Coaching Contracts - What does your coach make
Board Meeting Minutes - What is happening with the Club

These documents can be requested in person (club has three days to get information to you) or in writing (club has 30 days to get information to you)(the Club can charge for the copying expense of these documents). If a Club fails to provide you with the information you requested without a reasonable explanation, you have the option of reporting them to the Internal Revenue Service. As a paying member of a Club you become an owner and therefore are entitled to the same information on the Club that a shareholder of a company would expect to receive in return for buying stock. It is your responsibility to know where your money is being spent and if it is being spent wisely. You, as a member, have the ability to ask questions, attend board meetings and to be involved with the Club that your child is a part of. This can be a rewarding experience as it allows you to influence the Club in ways that are morally and ethically your own. If you choose to sit by the sidelines and let others run the Club, you will most certainly be disappointed and discouraged when things shift far from what you believe in. GET INVOLVED. Make your Board Members accountable to you and the Club as a whole for the decisions they make.

NTSSA required Documents for playing Competitive Soccer
1) NTSSA/USYS Membership Form - Competitive Players
2) Medical Release Form
3) Copy of player birth certificate

All paperwork should be properly filled out and completed at time of signing July 1 (for returning players) and July 10 (new players).

Fees collected at signing (July 1 or 10) usually consist of the uniform fee ($150 - $300+) and an initial deposit to be determined by the team (usually $200 - $300).
