May 19, 2005 -- In Division I, Bram City United had the first by week of the season, which leaves us all still wondering what the caliber of this 'new' team will be once they finally take
the pitch against the Blue Lightning on Friday May 20th; The Blue Lightning will be hoping that Bram City does indeed get off to a slow start as Lightning dropped their first result of
the season with a 3-1 loss to the reigning Winter Indoor Champions, the Blue Bombshells.
A few kilometers down Queen St., the United Black Devils returned to the form we've all come to expect from them. With only a single loss in the Winter Indoor Season, and that in the
finals, the Devils once again trumped long time rivals Bull Dawgs 5-0.
Last Outdoor Season's Red Rovers, now simply known as the Rovers, indicated what a bit of hard work and planning can do as they displayed a great deal of improvement via personnel and
tactics, drawing 0-0 with a renowned Peel squad. If Peel wants to make an impact, like they did last year, they're going to have to step their play up a notch or two as it is now obvious
that the league as a whole has improved.
In Division II some of the standard division leaders were crestfallen as they dropped results to the underdogs. The Blue Shooters, never quite contesting matters in indoor sessions,
returned to last season's outdoor form by beating a strong and steady Golden Rockets side.
Winter Indoor Champion Strikers drew with the Advil Takers. Another cinderella story was the Weekend Warriors 2-1 win over The Divas, a side that many anticipated to challenge this
season. It isn't too late though, so keep an eye out for a midseason surge.
Blue Bayou forced a 2-0 victory out of the Spitfires as newcomers Callahan Conveyors emerged from their inaugural week with a 3-2 win over Gold Rush.
Brampton Aces, a team put together just 3 short years ago continue to show what squad consistency and low turnover can accomplish as they started what could be a second winning season
with a 1-0 victory over Eagles WFC.
In Division III's first ever match ups. The Talons earned the first ever BAS Division III victory as they went 3 goals up against The Sonics in a 4-1 win. The other Division III match up
was a high powered event as Dixie Dynamo and the McHugh Crew drew 4-4.
Week 2 will be slowed down due to the long weekend, but keep an eye out for Division I match ups that could indicate how the season will unfold. Will the United Black Devils exact their
revenge on Saturday's match up against the Blue Bombshells
