Just For Kicks At Attitash Open Coed Soccer in the Mount Washington...

May 14, 2005 -- Co-ed and open to all abilities, an adult pick-up soccer league is forming with the Fields of Attitash as the home turf. The opening of the league will take place on Thursday, June 2 at 6 p.m. beginning a summer long weekly schedule of Thursday evenings at the Fields of Attitash.

"It'll be a great way for locals to get some exercise, meet new people and catch up with friends," said Alex Kaufman, Attitash communications manager and league director.

Any and all interested players are urged to attend the weekly pick-up games. There is no charge to participate, but $5 donations will be accepted and will go towards the purchase of items such as colored mesh practice jerseys, corner flags, netting, and a possible fall tournament among local businesses.

Bartlett Elementary School has donated a pair of regulation size soccer goals for use at the Fields. While the Mount Washington Valley Youth Soccer Program has kept children on the pitch for years, Valley adults have had little options, until now.

"We'll start off small," said Kaufman. "We'll gather on Thursday nights, kick the ball around and have a scrimmage. If there are enough folks in the Valley that are interested, I think it would be great to field a few teams."

Attitash is part of American Skiing Company (OTC: AESK), one of the largest four-season mountain resort operators in the United States. The resorts include Killington and Mount Snow in Vermont, Attitash in New Hampshire, Sunday River and Sugarloaf/USA in Maine, Steamboat in Colorado, and The Canyons in Utah. More information is available on the company's website, www.attitash.com.
