Wayne Rooney Street Striker Football Competition at Haven

Holidaymakers at Haven will have the opportunity to test their football skills against a range of challenges set out by England star Wayne Rooney this summer thanks to the Coke Zero Street Striker programme.

Street Striker was a programme on Sky One last year where youngsters aged between 14 and 18 had the chance show off their street football skills against the clock. They completed certain challenges and Wayne Rooney would choose who would go through to the next round based on the best and most improved players.

This year'ss tournament runs throughout July at a number of locations around the country including 10 Haven parks, with the winning players going through to the national finals, and ultimately the chance to appear on the Sky One television programme where Wayne Rooney himself will judge who the best player is.

With more and more families choosing to have their summer holidays (http://www.haven.com/holidays/summer.aspx) in the UK this year due to the credit crunch and other economic worries, Haven parks are more popular than ever before, meaning that competition for places in the Wayne Rooney Street Striker programme is fierce.

The trials for the competition are being held over three weekends during July at Haven. Those wishing to enter will need to be staying on one of the following parks on either the 5th, 12th, or 19th July

>    Haggerston

>    Devon Cliffs

>    Primrose Valley

>    Hopton

>    Rockley Park

>    Presthaven Sands

>    The Orchards

>    Combe Haven

Only one place is available at each Haven park, with the final trials being held at locations around the country during the week commencing 27th July. In total, 24 of the best young footballers in the country will be able to go through to the TV show hosted by Andy Ansah, Sue Smith, and Wayne Rooney himself.

The TV show is scheduled to be broadcast on Sky One during November.
