Dr. Siegals COOKIE DIET„ Announces Plans for Retail Kiosk and Store Franchising

Dr. Siegal's Direct Nutritionals, LLC, the global distributor of the internationally-popular Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET (http://www.CookieDiet.com) weight loss system and hunger-controlling foods, today announced the formation of Dr. Siegal's U.S. Franchising, LLC which will offer franchises beginning this summer.

For most of its 33 year history, Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET was only available to patients of Cookie Doctor Sanford Siegal, D.O., M.D.'s South Florida medical practice, Siegal Medical Group (http://www.DrSiegal.com), and about 200 other doctors he supplied. In May 2007, DSDN launched an e-commerce web site (www.CookieDiet.com) and began offering his famous cookies directly to consumers. In August 2007, it opened its first retail outlet at Moorestown Mall near Philadelphia. Today, the company operates seven shopping mall kiosks in Florida, Arizona, and New Jersey. Its first full-size store will open in Beverly Hills next month.

"Hardly a day goes by where we don't receive two or three unsolicited franchising inquiries from somewhere in the world. Most of the requests are from customers who've enjoyed success with our products," said Matthew Siegal, President and CEO of Dr. Siegal's Direct Nutritionals, LLC. "We're glad that we'll be able to satisfy the apparent demand for Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET franchises. Soon our customers throughout North America will enjoy greater convenience and savings by buying our products locally."

Today's announcement marks Dr. Siegal's second foray into franchising. In 2002, he granted exclusive franchise rights in the United States and Canada to a Canadian doctor. Between 2002 and 2006, Dr. Siegal's franchisee and its sub-franchisees opened more than two dozen diet centers under the names Siegal Weight Management and Siegal Smart for Life Weight Management Centers. Under license from Dr. Siegal, the franchised centers sold hundreds of thousands of his hunger-controlling cookies, shakes, and soup and instructed their clients to follow his six-cookies-a-day, 800 calorie weight loss system. In August 2006, Dr. Siegal's franchisee abruptly cancelled the agreement, dropped the name "Siegal" from its signs, and immediately introduced its own brand of cookies, shakes and soup that don't contain Dr. Siegal's proprietary protein mixture.

"The mistake I made last time was to allow a third party franchisee to stand between me and the individual sub-franchisees who were licensed to use my name, weight loss system, and hunger-controlling cookies, shakes and soup," said Dr. Siegal. "This time, I'll deal directly with our individual franchisees to ensure that Dr. Siegal's COOKIE DIET products are offered to consumers exactly as I direct."
