Medical Spa and Laser Hair Removal Center to Donate 100 of Daily Revenue To Katrina Victims

Medical Spa and laser hair removal center to Donate 100 percent of Daily Revenue to Katrina Victims.

Blue Water Spa, a medical spa and laser hair removal center in Raleigh, NC will be opening the spa the first Sunday of October, November and December 2005 and giving 100 percent of all revenue from products and services sold to the Red Cross to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina. Blue Water Spa is owned by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Law and his wife Kile Law.

The staff of Blue Water Spa is donating their time to perform treatments, answer phones, greet clients, clean rooms, etc. Facials, massage, microdermabrasion, laser hair removal, laser facials and more will be available to individuals who wish to have the entire amount of their medical spa service go to the Red Cross to aid hurricane victims.

"I have never wanted the spa open on Sunday", says Kile Law. "I feel it is important to give our staff and clients an opportunity to worship and to be with their families, but our staff wanted to help flood victims so we decided to open our doors to collect revenue that can go to the Red Cross." Laser Hair Removal is the most lucrative treatment at Blue Water Spa. The spa charges $380.00 for a full leg and bikini laser hair removal procedure. This procedure can be performed in just 20 minutes. The spa hopes to generate significant funds for each 5 hour day designated for relief efforts.

Blue Water Spa will be donating 100 percent of all revenue received designated days to the Red Cross.

"I have never pushed products in the spa, but I will be here those days and encouraging everyone to stock up on skin care, candles and more. We considered many different promotions including money off treatments or giving the profit from products sold to a relief fund, but tragedy like this brings out the best and the worst in people. I imagine some businesses will view this tragedy as a marketing opportunity. I wanted to be sure that it is clear that there is no benefit to our business."

The staff members of the spa want to be examples for others.

"Many people want to help, but they do not have the financial resources to do so", says Lynne Dubuque, a laser technician at Blue Water Spa. "By donating just five hours a month to the relief efforts, we can make a difference."

Service providers generally receive 20 percent to 25 percent of the price of treatment in tips. The staff at the spa will also be donating all tips they receive those days to the Red Cross.

"I am amazed by the generosity of the incredible group of people I work with" says Law, "I hope that other businesses and their staff can find similar ways to work together and help those in desperate need."
