BOCA RATON, FL September 9, 2005 -- In an effort to provide an online community space of communication and sharing of hearts for victims of Hurricane Katrina and citizens alike, www.spiritforum.com was upgraded last week with advanced full features to the world at large by Greg Hark, the founder of www.spiritsupportgroup.org and six other spiritual-related web sites promoting spirit consciousness in the world under the umbrella name www.spiritpersonals.com.
"Unlike many sites of their kind, spiritforum.com and spiritsupportgroup.org are central points for like-minded people to share their thoughts, concerns, hopes and other emotions in a safe and welcome repository of love," Hark said. "After putting my own hurricane shutters up, and after the Hurricane passed through South Florida, I saw the devastation on TV in the Gulf. I felt a sense of helplessness and realized that I needed to immediately provide a sounding board for our hurting community during this unprecedented national disaster."
The spiritforum.com site was fully upgraded with the advent of Hurricane Katrina, as Hark immediately opened up every technological avenue to allow users to share emails, instant messages, photos and more. The free site allows guests and registered users to share their thoughts and feelings, their highs and lows, their dreams and discoveries related to the horrific national event. Prior to this week, users were limited to posting comments only. The site is also directly accessible by the URL www.hurricanekatrinaforum.com.
Spiritsupport.org this week was enhanced with two categories added to encompass those suffering from emotional or physical anguish as a result of Hurricane Katrina. The site is a totally free online meeting place where participants can fill out a profile, and then e-mail, chat or instant message other members in the comfort of their own home at any time of the day. They can share their deepest thoughts and feelings without revealing a name or e-mail address. The site will be there for victims of Hurricane Katrina, and their friends and relatives, when the time comes that they need a place to go for compassion.
"Whether people are interested in a shoulder to lean on or just an email friend, www.spiritsupportgroup.org is a source for connection with others who understand what it means to face trauma and difficult situations," Hark said. "Spiritsupportgroup.com is the coolest site in the world," he added.
www.spiritsupportgroup.org was formed when Hark, in 2004, realized the need to develop a new kind of online support site for people experiencing physical, mental and emotional challenges. Hark created this support site after his best friend developed lung cancer and during the treatment he realized that his friend was not going to find any support groups in a user-friendly Internet supported environment.
Last week in a letter to the SpiritPersonals.com membership (www.spiritsingles.com/press) Hark said, "On a personal note this storm reminds me that each day and month is a gift to cherish and spread love to the world and universe." Hark laid out three ways he would help his community in that letter including adding the Hurricane Katrina Forum as an online avenue of sharing.
Spiritforum.com spiritsupportgroup.org spiritpersonals.com and the six spiritual sites under that umbrella name, offer spiritual dating venues and spiritual forums for like-minded people. Hark's eight spiritual communities receive over 1.5 million visits per month.
