Irish Freedom Committee Christmas Drive for Families of Irish Republican Political Prisoners
The Irish Freedom Committee will sponsor a Christmas Drive for families of Irish Republican political prisoners. The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005 on the main stage at the Abbey Pub (3420 W. Grace, Chicago) from noon until 3:00p.m.
There will be a raffle for POW craftwork as well as many other prizes. Steve Jigmaster Fitzgerald will be the musical guest along with many other special guests. Irish Republican merchandise and books will be available and there will be a holiday card signing for Irish political prisoners.
There are currently nearly 100 Irish Republican prisoners of conscience serving political sentences in jails in Britain and Ireland. Many of these prisoners are charged on flimsy or circumstantial evidence and are sentenced in three-judge, juryless courts.
Many of these men have been sentenced to 20 and more years while their families and loved ones struggle on the outside.
Please join the Irish Freedom Committee for an afternoon of song and holiday cheer on Sunday Nov. 20th, 2005 for our 's8220;2005 Holiday Drive for Families of Irish Republican Political Prisoners.'s8221;
