Tevia Celli, owner of Body & Soul Workout and Los Angeles' spin instructor to the stars, is well on her way to meeting her $125,000 goal for this year's Southern California Start to Finish MS Bike Tour, which begins October 20 and spans two days and 150 miles. This is the second tour for Celli, who last year raised $90,000 with her "Team Body & Soul Workout," named for her West Hollywood gym.
"I was diagnosed with MS three years ago, so last year I was approached by the Southern California Chapter of the National MS Society to be a spokesperson for the ride. I hadn't been on
an outdoor bike in nearly twenty years, but said yes anyway." She formed Team Body & Soul Workout (BSW), recruited 26 of her loyal spinners, and together they raised over $90,000.
Celli has been teaching spin classes since 2000, and was diagnosed with MS in 2004. She manages her MS by practicing a healthy lifestyle of diet, exercise and alternative treatments. She
has yet to require medication, teaches ten classes a week, and has not missed a single day of work due to her MS.
This year, Team BSW consists of 42 members, ranging in ages from 22 to 78.The group has already raised $98,000, and is well on their way to reaching their $125,000 goal, breaking the
record they set only last year."We're experienced spinners, not road riders," Celli says, " but the edge we have is that we are invested mind, body, and soul."
