In the virtual battle field one team is fighting to bring attention to a real life cause. When the yearly World of Firepower event was announced within Entropia Universe, a small group of friends decided they wanted to start a team with a mission, to bring attention to the plight of the Tibetan people. The timing was perfect as the competition started just as the first protests and violence broke out in March in the Tibetan region. Composed of a core group of friends that met inside Entropia Universe and play and chat regularly on the internet, Team Tibet has attracted supporters from the United States, Germany, France, Sweden, South Africa and beyond.
The original field of thirty two teams has been whittled down to twelve and Team Tibet is standing strong as one of the favorites, setting a new scoring record for the 2 year old
competition in their most recent match.
Although Team Tibet has high hopes for winning the competition the members agree that regardless of the outcome their effort has already been a great success. Jan, a team member from
Germany says, "On the forums and in the virtual universe people are talking about Tibet. Every day we seem teams of hunters with names like 'Free Tibet' made up of people we don't even
know. The message is getting out, and that is the most important thing to us."
