New Urban Based program seeks to confront the challenging social issues that plague our youth and young adults. Date: 1:00 P.M. Friday July 22 till 1:00 P.M. Sunday July 24, 2005. Place: Brooksvale Park



CTRIBAT (Connecticut RIBAT) or Ultimate Retreat, is an opportunity for one to get away from the daily fast pace routines and go to a more naturalistic environment to reflect. In addition, CTRIBAT seeks to enhance one's character as well as their sprit. CTRIBAT also incorporates a physical component into its entire program to challenge ones overall development. Thus, CTRIBAT could best be described as a program that seeks to develop Mind-Body-Spirit of youth in present day America so that they can build a better tomorrow.



With the increase in budget cuts on youth programs with in the many inner cities across America comes an increase of youth violence, teenage pregnancy, school drop outs, and other social ills that make it very challenging for our youth to make positive choices in present day society.



CTRIBAT seeks to confront this condition "head on" through its implementation of Character Shaping. It is our philosophy that believing is only part of achieving ones goals. Youth must first have a desire to have goals, having realistic expectations and finally, creating healthy conditions in order to achieve their plan. Character Shaping is at the center of the CTRIBAT. The necessities of being polite, the importance of hygiene, being aware of the effects of healthy eating habits, the need to maintaining scholastic development and how its will aid them in the future, cultural identity and how it relates to the world around them, are just some of the social topics that CTRIBAT has identified as areas of priority.    




What makes CTRIBAT so unique is the method of delivering these social life skills to the youth We realize that do to our society becoming more technologically advanced, many youth have become less active outdoors. Moreover, with the increase of the cost of living in the day to day life, and the increase of single parent families, many youth do not have access to travel to the many beautiful natural settings with in New England and the Tri-State area. CTRIBAT provides a bridge so that these youth can cross over to see the other side of Life In America, the Side outside of the Inner-City.



As of now, CTRIBAT is exclusively geared towards males between the ages of 9 to 16 years of age who reside with in the Urban Areas of Connecticut. However, the program is socially and culturally dynamic and offers resources for youth from any aspect of American Society.
