e-VotingBooth.com (www.e-votingbooth.com) just launched as the only website where all Americans can vote on any pending bill or resolution in Congress, 'creating' truer democracy by allowing all citizens to literally 'vote' on any piece of legislation.
Americans can vote at any time on any bill, they are not tied to the hearing or floor vote schedule of any bill. They can even vote bills that are already public law (see Voting Scorecard
discussion below for rationale).
e-VotingBooth.com could not be more relevant or useful: the core message Senator Obama was trying to communicate April 6 in San Francisco, and currently being maligned by the other
presidential candidates, is his belief Americans don't feel like they are being listened to by elected officials.
e-VotingBooth.com will drastically change the dynamics of Congressmen and the President on how to vote for a congressional bill by adding the collective citizen's voice to their voting
consideration.
"The site provides the ability for Americans to participate in the legislative process of America daily, if desired, instead of once every 2 years at elections," said Steve Thompson,
founder and president of e-VotingBooth.com. "When 200 million Americans vote on a particular bill, such as immigration or universal health care coverage, elected officials will know
exactly how the people want them to vote.
"But I believe the icing on the cake is the ability of every citizen to compare their elected officials' votes right alongside their own. This information will be invaluable for making
election decisions," Thompson said. This capability is now being added to the website and will be available before the 2008 election.
"For example," said Thompson, "if you find your Representative, Senator or President voted against your votes 90% of the time you are far more likely to vote against him or her for
re-election than if they had voted 90% with you."
"In addition," Thompson continued, "this election will be historical in that it will be the first election in history where all voters will be able to use e-VotingBooth.com via our Voting
Scorecard, to compare their personal voting record against both presidential candidates (all remaining candidates are Congressmen) to make a direct and objective voting decision for the
office of the President of the United States of America." Americans would want to register and start voting in e-VotingBooth.com as soon as possible to build the largest and broadest set
of votes for comparison before the election.
e-VotingBooth.com isn't a government agency, it's a private company: Congress can't block the site, can't take away its funding, and best of all, must acknowledge the voice of all
Americans on legislation.
Thompson is a veteran who believes in democracy, freedom and the United States. He has been searching for a way to implement truer democracy in the United States but acknowledges the
system would never convert because a massive shift of power would flow from special interest groups to all American citizens. Instead of giving up he took matters into his own hands and
built e-VotingBooth.com.
