Island Training Offers Live Remote Rational Software Tools LunchandLearn...

An iterative software development process, the IBM® Rational Unified Process® (RUP) is big and broad, yet undeniably beneficial. On Monday, June 19, from 12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m., Island Training Solutions invites software developers to attend at no charge, a live, remote lunch-and-learn session to gain a better understanding of RUP and its benefits as an adaptable process framework for developing object oriented software.

During the 90-minute overview, software developers will learn how RUP helps bypass common causes of failed software projects. Geri Winters, Senior Instructor/Consultant, Island Training Solutions, will lead the online session.

Because it can be used with any kind of software project, the RUP process library is extensive (no project requires use of all its parts) and often intimidating to browse and use. Based on Winters's8217; experiences guiding RUP implementations at corporations throughout the United States, the session will introduce attendees to RUP along with three ways of viewing it.

Winters will share how to compare RUP to a standard problem-solving process, focusing on the core elements of RUP needed to develop any project, use tools provided by IBM Rational, and look at patterns of projects and the parts of RUP that apply to them. At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees will benefit from a focused look at a tested RUP roadmap and leave with proven techniques for navigating the RUP.

While RUP can be applied to any kind of software development project of any size, Winters says its real strength is in larger projects. In terms of patterns of projects, the number is infinite, with often more than one pattern and software project, she said.
