Knights Football and Cheer On Quest For Pop Warner Nationals in Florida



The 2005 Pop Warner season, is quickly wrapping up. This year has been a great success for San Marcos Pop Warner (SMPW) teams, in both the football and cheer divisions. Most noted, the Midget Division Knights Cheer Squad and the Midget Division Knights Football Team have both won the Palomar Conference Championship!

At the aspiring ages of 12-15, these kids are now a few steps away from qualifying for the ultimate goal -- the Pop Warner Super Bowl held December 5-10 at Disney World in Florida. The possibility of sending both a football team and a cheer squad from the same age group to the National Championships is unprecedented for San Marcos, and possibly San Diego County. Only two things stand in between these kids and their goal- the Wescon Regional Championship and the funds to get to Florida. The kids will take care of the Regionals, but they need your help to take care of the financing.

At $800-$1,000 for each child (28 football players and 19 cheerleaders) the total price tag is well over $40,000. This cost includes airfare, lodging, meal vouchers, and Disney tickets for the 4-6 days they will participate in the competition. Although, the families of the kids are responsible for these costs, some of these kids will not be able to travel without financial assistance. Therefore, SMPW is asking the community for help.

Donations or pledges from local businesses and individuals who would like to help make this dream come true for the SMPW Knights are now being accepted. San Marcos Pop Warner is a non-profit organization (501-c3), so donations made directly to the League are tax-deductible. Donations or pledges can be mailed to the P.O. Box listed below.
