Harlem Globetrotter Angel Chairman CEO Mannie Jackson To Be Honored...



Dedicated to honoring African Americans and other ethnic sports legends, the African American Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame (AAESHOF) has just added Harlem Globetrotters's8217; Chairman and CEO Mannie Jackson to the list of honorees for its Saturday, July 8th Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Alhambra Ballroom in Harlem.



The signature black-tie event will start with its 's8220;VIP Reception with the Stars's8221; at 6:00 p.m., followed by the induction ceremony. The historic Alhambra Ballroom is located at 2116 Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard.



Jackson will be presented with the Basketball Entrepreneur Award for his significant achievements in making a dramatic corporate turnaround restoring the Hall of Fame Globetrotter basketball team to its global icon status.



A former Globetrotter player himself, Jackson purchased the team in 1993 to revived the near-bankrupt organization into one of the most admired and publicized teams in the world. All of this while increasing revenue five-fold and rebuilding the fan base to near record levels.



Before a national television audience, the team confirmed its status as one of the best and most influential basketball teams in the world when Jackson and the Globetrotters were the fifth team inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on September 27, 2002. The team has been recognized six times in the past seven years by basketball's8217;s most prestigious barometer of success.



Lynette Woodard, the first female to play for the Globetrotters will be inducted into the Hall of Fame and Marques Haynes of the Globetrotters will receive the Basketball Ambassador Awards. Previously in 2003, Haynes was inducted into the AAESHOF.



Jackson will also join Kermit Washington who will receive the Global Outreach Award, along with Emile Griffith and John Isaacs will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.



The AAESHOF is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, and is dedicated to the development of opportunities for young, less fortunate people to gain exposure to positive aspects of life.



This is our major Hall of Fame scholarship fund-raiser for students to attend historically black colleges and universities. It helps students from economically challenged backgrounds fund their education through our 's8220;Academia Achievers Award Program.'s8221;



The event will be broadcast on WSRN radio Web cast and streamed on the Internet. Negotiations are in the process for televising the event. It will be video taped for presentation onto the Internet by Pay2ViewTV.com. National, International and local print media, television and radio will be represented and interviews will be conducted on a regular basis, prior to and during the event.
