Richmond VA Public Tennis Courts Ladder in Full Swing

2006 Local tennis pro Charles Gray has developed a web-based tennis ladder for public court players in the Richmond area. Open to men and women at level 2.5 (advanced beginner) and above, this online tennis ladder allows for the scheduling of challenge matches amongst registered players. Like a mini-tour, players can climb the rankings by beating higher-level opponents.

Many private tennis clubs have competitive ladders which work very well to match member players. This online tool allows players, who are not affiliated with a club, to easily find one another for challenge matches played on public courts, said Gray. In order to grow the sport of tennis locally, we must make it easy, accessible, and affordable for existing and lapsed players to play the game.

According to the United States Tennis Association, more than 70% of recreational tennis in the U.S. is played on public courts. A complete list of public courts in the Richmond area is easily accessible through the new website. The goal of the online tennis ladder is to link public court players giving them more opportunities to enjoy the social and health benefits of tennis.

The cost of joining the ladder is free, and can be accessed at http://tennisthegrayway.com .

Charles Gray is a Richmond-based tennis professional with over 15 years teaching experience. He currently teaches private, semi-private and larger group clinics at all levels from beginner to advanced for Henrico Parks and Recreation and J Sargeant Reynolds. He is the assistant tennis coach for the Randolph Macon College men'ss and women'ss teams.
