Louisiana Department of Transportation Development Chooses Silanis for Webbased Electronic Signing

The leading provider of electronic signature solutions, Silanis Technology, is pleased to announce it has secured a contract to provide electronic signing solutions to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD).

As part of an e-government initiative (http://www.silanis.com/solutions/government-solutions.html) to increase efficiency, Silanis will enable LA DOTD to electronically process residential permit applications for driveways and mailboxes, using secure e-signatures.

"Automating the permitting process with e-signatures is a priority for us," said Mr. Derrick Condalary, LA DOTD IT Deputy Director, "because it will increase departmental efficiency and accuracy, ultimately leading to improved citizen service and public safety."

The department began using Silanis' desktop electronic signature solution two years ago to streamline the internal approval process for engineering projects. Like many organizations that adopt e-signatures, the value of expanding this capability to mission-critical, public-facing processes quickly became apparent.

The current paper-based permit application process takes a minimum of four weeks and is unnecessarily inefficient due to manual processing, distribution and verification. Once deployed, citizens will be able to complete and submit signed permit applications for a driveway or mailbox online - from the comfort of their home, 24x7. Subsequently, the intention is to expand this portal for the submission and issuing of building permits against construction plans for bridges, highways and streets.
