Local Communities Empowered to Fight Global Warming At SavingGreenbyGoingGreen.com
In the best tradition of 's8216;think global, act local's8217;, local communities can now get assistance helping businesses in their area counteract global warming.
Inspiring Green Leadership, a environmental training and coaching company, is now offering a course to help government and environmental groups assist local businesses to become more sustainable. The virtual course is offered online to attendees worldwide.
Called the Saving Green By Going Green's8482; SMB Accelerator, the program teaches participants how to organize half-day Saving Green By Going Green's8482; conferences in their local communities. At the conferences, local businesses are offered opportunities to register for governmental, utility, non-profit and private sector programs that save them money while reducing their resource consumption. These programs can include ways to reduce electricity use, water use and waste production, and may even include programs for installing solar panels and other resource-efficient technologies. Target businesses include small to medium-sized offices, restaurants and hotels, all of which get a dedicated coach.
All Tools and Ongoing Coaching for Success
By the end of the five month accelerator, the Accelerator participants will have conducted their own local Saving Green by Going Green conference, resulting in real carbon emission reductions by at least fifty local businesses. The participants will have used all the tools and support included by Inspiring Green Leadership, such as how-to instruction, weekly coaching calls for the duration of the Accelerator, training manuals, promotional materials and online discussion forums. Participants will have learned essential project management skills, how to keep a team inspired over time and effective communication skills.
's8220;While global warming is becoming a higher priority for world leaders, we's8217;re helping people concerned about the planet take matters into their own hands,'s8221; said Andre Angelantoni, founder of Inspiring Green Leadership. 's8220;Our Accelerator resources and ongoing coaching help local governmental or environmental groups make changes quickly where they's8217;re most important: right in their own backyards.'s8221;
As articulated in the movie An Inconvenient Truth, opening later this month, the majority of the world's8217;s scientists believe global warming is having a significant impact on climate change. Although the U.S. and other countries have opted not to adhere to the Kyoto Protocol ratified by most of the rest of the developed world, people are increasingly concerned about the effect of greenhouse gases on the planet.
's8220;Our country may not have signed onto Kyoto, but many cities in the U.S. are still interested in meeting the Protocol's8217;s emissions targets,'s8221; said Cliff Waldeck, Board Member of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. 's8220;The Saving Green by Going Green conference we'sre holding in San Francisco later this month will take us a step closer to meeting our city's8217;s commitment to adhering to Kyoto.'s8221;
