Kapsch TrafficCom Wins ITS America Award for Best InnovativePractice



Kapsch TrafficCom, international supplier of innovative road traffic telematics solutions, was honored by ITS America in the Category Best Innovative Practice for their 5.9 GHz Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) Smart road technologies for traveler safety and mobility.



The award acknowledges Kapsch TrafficCom's180;s (http://www.kapsch.net)innovative deployment of 40 5.9 GHz DSRC roadside units interacting with on-board equipment in New York City (http://nyc.gov) and New York State (https://www.nysdot.gov/index) to improve traveler safety, mobility, and environmental sustainability. The deployment highlights the first ever 5.9 GHz DSRC (http://kapsch.net) live, interoperable IntellidriveSM vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) network equipped on city streets and highways. The architecture enabled more than 20 safety, mobility and traveler payment and information Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) applications utilizing 5.9 GHz DSRC infrastructure.
