Web design firm Scott Design Inc. has developed a free holiday web page maker called Special Delivery that allows users to create custom web pages as an alternative to buying, writing, and mailing traditional holiday cards.

Special Delivery goes far beyond typical e-cards, allowing users to add their own photos and personalized messages along with beautiful backgrounds, animations, and even music--and then share with friends and family.

And it'ss not only for the holidays--users can send online birthday wishes, design party invitations, share news and photos with friends, and post their creations on their Facebook and MySpace pages.

We were planning on creating this as a holiday gift for our clients, but with the current economic situation and environmental concerns, we decided to make this available to everyone, said Matt Scott, president of Scott Design. And, personally, I'sm looking forward to using Special Delivery as an easier, quicker way to keep in contact with colleagues, friends, and family, since I'sm a notorious procrastinator when it comes to sending out holiday cards.

Special Delivery was built in Adobe Flex, a set of technologies used to develop rich Internet applications based on the Adobe Flash platform.
