4th Annual Global ETF Awards Dinner Workshop 48 Awards given out in...



Over 16 countries were represented at the event. Industry Experts from the European, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Latin American marketplace shared their experiences using ETFs and ETNs in their respective markets.


New York, NY April 28 2008 -- The 2008 Global ETF Awards dinner held by US based Exchangetradefunds.com was a tremendous success. ETF professionals from all over the world attended the half-day educational Workshop and Awards presentation in New York City at the New York Hilton, on April 17, 2008. Over 16 countries were represented at the event.



The event began in the afternoon with a Workshop, which featured two sessions--the "Investors Discussion Forum" and the "Industry Discussion Forum", that included topics ranging from Best Practices for Financial Advisors, A Closer View of Actively Managed, Commodity and Multiple Asset Class ETFs ETN Product developments, regulatory issues currently affecting the markets, Emerging Markets, Loss of Seed Capital and impact on product development and several other topics were discussed.

The 2008 Global ETF Awards winners were based on over 440 votes cast from Industry Organizations and ETF industry professionals' worldwide and statistical data provided by Morgan Stanley.



Some of the winners were Best Service Provider Award -The Americas-Bank of New York Mellon who has won 2 years in a row, Bank of Ireland Securities services won in the same category in Europe and State Street Bank & Trust for the Asia-Pacific Region. The Most Recognized ETF Brand Award in the Ameicas-SPDRs , In Europe-db x-trackers . Most Innovative ETF Product Award-Americas-X-Shares TD AMERITRADE, In Europe-db x-trackers Deutsche Bank and Lyxor tied for first place and in the Asia-Pacific Region-Finans Portfoy / FTSE Istanbul Bond.ETF. Most Innovative ETF Index Provider Award-Americas-Dow Jones, In Europe-Deutsche Brse Market Data & Analytics and in Asia-Pacific-Hang Seng .Deborah Fuhr, Managing Director, Investment Strategies, Morgan Stanley, for the Greatest Overall Contribution in the ETF Industry and Most Widely Utilized ETF Research(statistical)-Europe Region. Morgan Stanley won Most Widely Utilized Reasearch(statical) for both the Americas and Asia-Pacific Regions. Barclays Global Investors was the winner for the Greatest Overall Contribution to the ETF Industry in Emerging markets. ETC won the Most Innovative ETF Hybrid Product award for Europe and in the Americas iPath was the winner. Most Proactive ETF Exchange-Americas-American Stock Exchange, Europe-Deutsche Brse who has won this award 4 years in a row and in Asia-Pacific-Korean Stock Exchange. Flow Traders won for Market Maker in Europe and Goldman Sachs won for the Americas and Asia Pacific regions.Some of the statistical winners included Largest Exchange for ETFs-Americas-Nasdaq, in Europe-by dollar turnover-Deutsche Borse and by volume-London Stock Exchange. ETFs with the Most Assets raised-Americas-SPDRs S&P 500 (in absolute terms) and the SPDR DJ Wilshire International Real Estate ETF (in % terms). In Europe-db x-trackers MSCI Emerging Market TRN Index ETF(in absolute terms) and the BUX Index Tracking Exchange Traded Fund (in % terms).
