Outpatient Obesity Surgery now Available in Northeast Texas with the...



June 13, 2005 -- Dr. Rachael Keilin and Dr. Ron Hekier have introduced same-day obesity surgery to the Northeast Texas, southwest Arkansas region. In Texarkana, Texas, the Lap Band procedure can now be performed in an outpatient setting, with the patient going home the same day as surgery.



"The Lap Band is a minimally invasive procedure, performed laparoscopically with without the need to cut or staple the stomach", says Dr. Rachael Keilin. "As a result this procedure is safer and has a much shorter recovery time than the gastric bypass. Many patients can return to work within one week of surgery."
