As part of "2005 National Adhesion Related Disorder" awareness month, surgical pioneer Harry Reich, MD, FACOG, 2005 President of the "International Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy (ISGE)", grants an exclusive interview with ARD patient advocate, Beverly Doucette.



Dr. Reich speaks frankly about post surgical adhesions and his hopes for the future of those afflicted with Adhesion Related Disorder.



"As the 2005 President of the International Society for Gynecological Endoscopy (ISGE,) I can make it my format to bring the issues of pelvic/abdominal adhesions to the attention of surgeons at the International level, however, endoscopic surgeons already know the problems that adhesions present and how difficult this problem is to deal with, so we need to take the next step"

Dr. Reich has performed many firsts, including the first laparoscopic hysterectomy, the first pelvic lymphadenectomy for cancer, and the first excision of cul-de-sac endometriosis that included rectal resection. Dr. Reich has performed more than 4,000 gynecologic laparoscopic procedures, and is internationally renowned for developing advanced laparoscopic techniques and for his many publications, presentations, textbooks and chapters, lectures and research. He is the co-editor of the Textbook of Laparoscopy, 3rd Edition, published in 1998.



In 1991 Dr. Reich received the Excel Award for extraordinary contributions to laparoscopy by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is consistently listed among the Best Doctors in America in many ranking publications.
