New iPhone Application Mirrors Human Memory

EnPlay LLC (http://www.enplay.com), a mobile application development and marketing company, announced that it has released NeuroMobile for the iPhone. The application'ss purpose is to enhance a user'ss memory of information by mimicking the structures behind human memory. By linking memories with associated clues, NeuroMobile functions like the brain'ss neural pathways which lead from nodes in the brain to the associated memories. Users can bring up a memory by simply searching for any of the associated clues.

Methods of enhancing natural memory through association have been encouraged for thousands of years. The Method of Loci, which improves memory by associating memories with locations, was first described in 500BC by the Greek thinker Simonides. We now know that this method, and others like it, work by creating additional neural pathways to memories. More pathways means more ways to recall that memory, even years later.

NeuroMobile lets users quickly and easily transfer these neural pathways to their iPhone to be stored as associated memories and clues so that they will never forget. The application allows quick and easy retrieval of memories by searching for any associated clues. It can be used to remember anything including names, passwords, grocery lists, meeting notes, account numbers; birthdays, confirmation numbers, books, movies stocks, recommendations, websites, phone numbers, pronunciations, email addresses, to-do lists, restaurants and vocabulary words. Users can even use it to remember where they parked.

As an example, say a user wants to remember the name of a neighbor that lives in the brown house. The users would add a memory with the neighbor'ss name: John Smith. Then add some clues to help remember it: neighbor, brown and house. To remember a hotel confirmation number for a trip to Hawaii. The users would add a memory with the confirmation number: DK7JH. Then add some clues to help remember it: confirm#, hotel and Hawaii. To recall the memory, a simple search for one or more of the clues is used.

The application is loaded with functionality to help manage memories. One example is the clues editor that allows users to edit a clue once and the changes will be made in all memories with that clue associated. You can also tap on a clue to view related memories containing that clue.
