Universe Point (http://www.universepoint.com), the monitored backup software company, announces the launch of ION 2.5, the newest version of the world's most reliable backup software. Currently still in beta, ION 2.5 makes major advances in usability, speed and, most importantly, monitoring notifications.
"With ION 2.5 we really concentrated on the reliability issue" says Universe Point CIO Dan Heckman, "By enhancing our monitoring and notification system we made it much easier to
consistently produce reliable, restorable backups."
The upgraded monitoring system features email, web and phone notifications, each of which are customizable for individual computers and accounts. The notifications provide information on
backup activity, errors and even inactivity for those stations that have failed to run ION.
The web reporting system provides a wide variety of statistics on every computer and backup job in the system, including errors, backup success rates and inactivity reports. The
Monitoring Dashboard (http://www.universepoint.com/mydashboard) provides an at-a-glance status report of all backup events, allowing
quick identification of issues through this single interface. The email reporting system can provide both "per license" and "global" email reports on backup activity, errors, and station
activity. Emails are highly customizable and linked to web reports that provide comprehensive explanations of every message. Options are available to receive emails after any job is run,
in the event of an error, or even if a station has not run a backup for a predetermined amount of time.Phone alerts are the last line of defense and can be set up to alert up to three
individuals in case of a serious concern. Phone alerts are configured globally and can be set to inform the user of errors or inactivity on any and all stations.
"The notification system makes it easy for me to keep track of all the computers I have running backup jobs," says Jeff Miller, VP of CAG Leads (http://www.cagleads.com/CAG/), "Now, instead of spending time trying to assure that my backup is working, I just know."
The new version also brings with it a new pricing structure. ION will now be available only as an inclusive subscription. Prices start as low as $15 per month with discounts for long term
commitments and include the software license, life-time upgrades, full email-initiated support and 24-7 monitoring.
"We felt that, since the monitoring service was so important, we should include it with each license," says Jeff Snader, CEO of Universe Point, "The subscription pricing model is the
simplest way to assure every ION user is getting the best protection for their data."
