Advances in Web Video Technology Spur Successful Ecommerce Venture

"Adding a personal touch was just what the company needed" says Raymond MacKenzie, President of Northeast Fasteners Co., Inc. Ray already had a successful ecommerce store and wanted to convert more of his web visitors into satisfied customers.

NutsandBolts.com the online store for Northeast Fasteners, had their first $29 sale on November 18, 2003. Since then, the company's web sales have grown to become a substantial part of overall sales. Ray further commented, "We are very pleased with the amount of visitors to our website but we are always looking for ways to convert traffic into more sales."

In July of 2007 the company was approached by Etown Videos who suggested producing a video for the company's website. Etown produced a short introductory video in which the owner and purchasing agent could talk about the company philosophy and show off their 8100 square foot warehouse. This was an easy way for online shoppers to meet the employees and visit the facilities without actually going there, according to the company President.

"Through the widespread deployment of broadband Internet access, web video has become main stream. Therefore, to gain a competitive edge many businesses have incorporated professional web video productions into their online marketing campaigns" says Sven Kielhorn, founder of Etown Videos of Easthampton MA.

Northeast Fasteners was so pleased with the immediate increase in sales they released "The Nut and Bolt Solution Series" in November of 2007. The ten part educational video addresses common fastener technical questions. The series was filmed at their location in Granby, MA.

By using web video to answer such questions as determining fastener grades, reading bolt head markings and measuring bolts Northeast Fasteners hopes to build a personal relationship with their web customers. For a company with a large repeat customer base, personalizing the web shopping experience is a top priority.

Northeast Fasteners Co., Inc. sells a 15,000 product fastener line through both salesmen and NutsandBolts.com their online store. The company has been a fastener distributor since 1984 and can be reached by calling 800-872-5557 or visiting the store at www.etownvideos.com.
