HyperOffice came in first place in the recently concluded Skype for Business competition.
The award-winning online messaging and collaboration software (http://www.hyperoffice.com) was singled out in the Americas region for using Skype
in part to help improve sales of its software by more than 100 percent.
Skype asked for stories about the most creative and original uses of Skype in the business environment. We were looking to see how you were using Skype to enable collaboration, improve
productivity or deliver new, unique services to your customers, wrote Stefan Oberg, general manager and vice president of the Skype for Business unit on the Skype for Business blog
announcing the winners: http://share.skype.com/sites/business/2009/08/winners_announced_skype_for_bu.html.
We use Skype to follow up on international leads, said Shahab Kaviani, vice president of HyperOffice. International customers made up less than 5 percent of revenue in 2007. Looking at
2009, I expect that number to be closer to 20 percent, using Skype for inexpensive international calls.
Thanks to the Skype toolbar, a small Skype icon appears next to contacts in our shared contact manager. Instead of calling the person, we know they have a Skype name and they are online,
and we just do a Skype call and save on traditional long distance calls, said Kaviani.
And, in our email marketing, we embed a SkypeMe icon. Our prospects receive an email campaign and within minutes we have people who we never spoke to before clicking to Skype chat or call
with the Internet sales department, said Kaviani.
