e-JITI II, Inc. announces a multi-year, multi-phase contract to provide leading-edge aviation systems integration expertise, to include a Class-2 Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), to
India's8217;s newest airline, IndiGo.
IndiGo is a new Indian domestic low-fare airline headed by U.S. aviation industry veteran Bruce Ashby as CEO. IndiGo has ordered 100 Airbus A-320 aircraft and, pending Indian final
regulatory approval, will begin operations this August. Indigo selected e-JITI to provide systems integration expertise for a 4-phase, multi-year contract designed to ensure maximum
safety with lean operations, at the lowest cost possible. Phase 1, which is underway, is designed to accelerate the introduction of Class-2 Electronic Flight Bags into IndiGo's8217;s
innovative operations vision. During this phase, e-JITI will help IndiGo develop EFB and Document/Content Management Systems (DMS/CMS) requirements, as well as issue and evaluate the
Invitation to Tender. During Phase 2, IndiGo will implement the chosen Class-2 EFBs as the first step toward achieving its reduced paper vision. Initial capabilities will likely include
operational performance calculations and a transition from paper-based aviation charts to eCharts, depending upon regulatory approvals.
During Phase 3, IndiGo will convert all of its paper-based operational manuals and procedures into XML/SGML for maximum flexibility and standardization of its internal documentation. In
addition, IndiGo will release another Invitation to Tender for the DMS/CMS solution. Then, during Phase 4, IndiGo will implement the chosen DMS/CMS into its daily operations. All
combined, these four phases will provide IndiGo with a wealth of benefits, to include: enhanced safety, improved compliance, shortened and more accurate revision control processes, as
well as improved access and search capability across all internal documentation. The overall goal will be more efficiency with less cost than a traditional paper-based operation 's8211;
translating into a more nimble airline in the domestic Indian market.
Steve Harfst, IndiGo's8217;s Chief Operating Officer, is the driving force behind IndiGo's8217;s reduced paper initiative. 's8220;We selected e-JITI to provide IndiGo with the best
possible solutions at the lowest cost and lowest risk possible's8221;, he said. 's8220;They have demonstrated expertise with developing Class-2 Electronic Flight Bags, DMS/CMS
implementations and integrating them across an airline. Their skills combination of Process Excellence, Enterprise Content Management and disciplined project management provide IndiGo
with a path of reduced operational costs and increased safety 's8211; both clear market differentiators in India.'s8221;
Jeff McChesney, e-JITI's8217;s CEO stated, 's8220;IndiGo has a tremendous reduced-paper vision, and we's8217;re very pleased to be an integral part of their team. Their plan calls for a
steady evolution from paper-based processes and procedures to a highly automated operation. The resultant cost reduction and increased efficiency should provide a noticeable competitive
advantage as the newest entrant into the fast expanding Indian aviation market. In addition, IndiGo's8217;s plan will enhance safety through highly automated and repeatable
processes.'s8221;
