Omni Technology Solutions is pleased to announce the world-wide availability of Omni Syncaphone, mobile software for Novell GroupWise that runs on the vast majority of over 579 million
Java cell phones. With Syncaphone, users have online access to their GroupWise mailbox, calendars, address books, tasks and notes from a standard Java cell phone.
"As collaboration platforms increasingly become the hub through which our customers share information and conduct business, regular and timely access to GroupWise has taken on
mission-critical importance," said Jonathan Rondon, product manager for Novell GroupWise. "There has been a significant increase in the demand for GroupWise mobility solutions, making
Omni's latest enhancements particularly relevant. Not only does Omni Syncaphone deliver a compelling solution for our customers, but it helps them leverage their existing investments in
GroupWise."
"The beauty of Omni Syncaphone is its simplicity. It is simple to install and use, and it will work with most Java cell phones," says Erno de Korte, president of Clarify NL and the
world's leading GroupWise mobility expert. "The installation file for the Nokia 6310i, Europe's most popular Java cell phone, is only 30 KB. That's impressive!" he adds.
Omni Syncaphone installs on the GroupWise WebAccess server. As a result, organizations do not need to invest in any additional hardware, software, gateway servers, or training to mobilise
their GroupWise users. This significantly reduces deployment costs and ensures that wireless connectivity is as secure and reliable as the GroupWise system itself. In addition, a "poison
pill" enables administrators to keep their corporate data safe by remotely forcing the removal of the application and GroupWise data from the device if it is lost or stolen.
"Omni Syncaphone is the perfect complement to Omni Mobile and Omni Messenger. These three products provide customers complete choice in how they want to service their mobile users' needs
- whether they use Syncaphone with Java phones; Omni Mobile with Palm Treo 650 and 600 smart phones; Pocket PCs; Sony Ericsson and Nokia Smart Phones; or Omni Messenger on Pocket PCs,"
says Aldo Zanoni.
