Paper Overview
WebSearch 4 Back-up and Disaster Recovery Guidelines
WebSearch provides a means for its users to maintain libraries that may consist of hundreds of thousands to millions of documents such that individual documents may easily be searched and
retrieved. Given the volume and importance of information maintained under WebSearch, it is imperative that the system be capable of being fully recovered in the event of hardware failure
or other disruptions to normal IT systems and facilities. The purpose of this document is to define those practices and procedures which will allow WebSearch to be recovered with maximum
efficiency.
WebSearch stores information in the following three data stores:
>The SQL Server Database -The WebSearch SQL Server database stores information about all users, communities, documents, access permissions and activity logs for the WebSearch
installation.
>The Document Indexing Directories - The document indexing directories contain special index files that support the high performance document search and retrieval process.
>The Document Directories - The document directories contain all actual documents that are indexed and managed by WebSearch. These directories are not created at install time, and are
specified when the WebSearch site administrator defines the file naming rules for document libraries as they are created.
