Scientific Component has released GPS ToolKit.NET version 3.0 for Windows 2000 and Windows XP, a .NET component for adding GPS support to Visual Basic .NET, C#, and C++ projects.
GPS ToolKit.NET provides software developers with an API for communicating with many types of GPS units, including RS232 and Bluetooth devices. It provides access to dozens of data sets,
including position, speed, course, satellite, and navigation data. Additionally, GPS ToolKit.NET provides automatic detection of GPS units, notification of GPS connection and
disconnection, and automatic COM port discovery.
Version 3.0 adds support for transferring waypoints, adding and editing routes, and downloading tracks from many Garmin GPS devices, including the eTrex and GPS III series.
GPS ToolKit.NET works with all NMEA 0183 capable GPS units, and can communicate with an unlimited number of GPS units simultaneously. The software also allows for playback of NMEA 0183
input files at various speeds, including real-time playback.
GPS ToolKit.NET is a native .NET managed component and comes complete with nine example applications in Visual Basic.NET, C#, and C++.
