KnowledgeTree, the leading provider of open source document management software (http://www.knowledgetree.com) to teams and small to medium-sized organizations, and Sybase SBS Software, a significant provider of open source solutions on the Iberian Peninsula, today announced that they have signed a master distributor agreement to strengthen the relationship between the companies for actively promoting open source document management software solutions in Spain and Portugal. The agreement calls for Sybase SBS Software to jointly develop a network of new reseller partners, and to help expand sales of KnowledgeTree products on the Iberian Peninsula. The agreement takes effect on February 1, 2008.
"We believe KnowledgeTree has great potential in the Spanish and Portuguese markets. Our customers appreciate the document management software's ease of use and its LAMP-based
architecture. The fact that KnowledgeTree has already been translated into Portuguese, Castilian and Catalan by the open source community is indicative of the demand for the product on
the Iberian Peninsula," said Rui Ribeiro, Professional Services Manager, Sybase SBS. "KnowledgeTree complements and strengthens our existing offering of open source products from Red Hat
and SCALIX and we believe our experience with delivering these open source technologies in Spain and Portugal will see a successful commercial rollout of the product in these markets."
"Sybase SBS Software have a committed team with extensive experience in marketing and selling open source products in the Spanish and Portuguese markets. We're excited to be working with
them and look forward to a successful rollout of commercial editions of KnowledgeTree in languages spoken in Spain and Portugal," said Daniel Chalef, KnowledgeTree COO.
Alongside market-development activities, Sybase SBS Software will be porting KnowledgeTree to utilize the Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise database engine. Sybase SBS Software will also
be managing the quality of commercial translations of KnowledgeTree into the Castilian, Catalan and Portuguese languages.
