Omni Announces Availability of Public Beta of Omni Mobile for GroupWise

At the annual CTIA Wireless conference earlier today, Omni announced the availability of the public beta (RC2) of Omni Mobile for GroupWise. Omni Mobile is compatible with Palm Treo 650, 600 and Tungsten; Sony Ericsson P910, P900, P800; and Pocket PC and Windows Mobile PDAs and PDA Phones. Omni Mobile is compatible with GroupWise 7 and 6.5.3 running on Novell OES, NetWare, SUSE Linux or Microsoft Windows.

Omni Mobile provides a cross-platform mobile client for on-line and off-line connectivity to Novell GroupWise and has chosen Crossfire as its cross-platform development tool. "As we continue to expand our coverage for enterprise users, we are pleased that Omni has chosen to work in Crossfire. Crossfire provides Omni - and all developers - the ability to write an application once and then deploy it to a multitude of wireless platforms," explained Chris Tyburski, CTO for AppForge. Omni selected the AppForge Professional Services team to perform the design, research, development, program management and joint quality assurance testing for this project.

"Omni Mobile is the first cross-platform mobile solution that provides a native wireless client that communicates directly to GroupWise without any intermediary servers," explained Aldo Zanoni, CEO for Omni. "Our customers are excited about not having to buy any additional hardware or software to be able to deliver a cross-platform mobile solution for GroupWise. By combining Omni Mobile with Omni Messenger, GroupWise users can be connected to their complete GroupWise collaboration system from anywhere in the connected world."
