The Afghan Education Fund, a non-profit organization located in Washington, DC, announces the purchase of the Afghanistan Technical Vocational Institute (ATVI) from Knowlogy International (www.knowlogy-intl.com). ATVI (www.atvi.edu.af) is a coeducational institute that prepares its graduates for employment in sectors of Afghan society where there is a critical shortfall of skilled labor such as construction, agriculture/horticulture, information and communications technology, and automotive systems technology. The school was developed by Afghan Education Fund founder, A. Huda Farouki and former Afghan Ambassador to the United States and former ATVI Chairman, the late Ishaq Shahryar.
Founded in April 2007, the Afghan Education Fund was developed to promote education programs in Afghanistan through fundraising for scholarships and other charitable activities that
promote education.
The expertise and commitment of the Afghan Education Fund to promoting rich educational programs in Afghanistan will help to ensure ATVI achieves its goal of providing professional
vocational programs that will lay the foundation for a skilled and educated workforce within the growing Afghan marketplace, stated Mr. A. Huda Farouki.
ATVI is the first post-war vocational school in Afghanistan and since its inception in 2006, it has grown into the largest vocational school in Afghanistan. The Afghan Education Fund is
committed to supporting ATVI'ss goals of providing additional educational scholarships, expanding current programs, creation of a new Business Administration program and construction of
smaller, satellite campuses in rural areas. The collaboration of both entities on their unified mission to provide greater access to a quality education for members of the Afghan society
will not only benefit the students themselves, but their families and communities, said Mr. Farouki.
