HETS Promotes College Success through Access to Free Educationaland...

More than 1,000 students from educational institutions affiliated to the Hispanic Educational Technology Services (HETS) Consortium have benefited from free resources to solidly prepare for a college career and professional endeavors through the access provided to the Testing and Education Reference Center (TERC). Developed by Gale Cengage Learning, TERC is an online resource with information and materials to support high school completion, college preparation and decisions, and career choices.

It is our goal to continuously engage in strategic alliances with partners such as Gale Cengage Learning in order to find successful and proven ways to widen access to opportunities for college success. This is precisely the mission of the HETS Consortium, said Yubelkys Montalvo, HETS Executive Director.

The TERC includes over 100 practice tests and courses, and information about over 4,000 accredited schools. High school, college, graduate, and international students can find books, tools, and practice exams to get ready for some of the most important entrance examinations. The site also offers resources for resume-building, basic skill-building, and college search.

Through the TERC, high school students can prepare for GED tests, AP exams, placement tests, and cooperative entrance examinations. Students moving on to college can earn college credits while in high school and prepare for the SAT, PSAT, and ACT, among other college entrance examinations. They can also build their resume for college application and find informational resources on colleges and academic programs available.

For students and professionals interested in embarking on graduate studies and professional degrees, there are comprehensive preparation tools and practice exams for the GRE, LSAT, GMAT, MCAT, and the MAT. There are also tools to help international students and other non-native English speakers master the TOEFL and the TOEIC.

Besides academic level preparation tools, this database also offers study guides and practice tests for the U.S. Citizenship examination, civil service and licensing exams, and military entrance tests, as well as preparation tools for entrance to careers in several fields, including nursing. Professional users can also benefit from professional development program search through access to the Bricker'ss database, which includes more than 1,300 professional development programs in management, finance, and other popular fields. Users can get a list of program offerings that match their qualifications and learn more about each program.

HETS is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative options for educational institutions, faculty, and students that widen success opportunities for Hispanic/Latino students. Partners accompanying HETS in this mission include 28 affiliated colleges and universities from the United States and Puerto Rico, and committed corporate members such as the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and the Hispanic and Information Telecommunications Network (HITN), among several others.
