ElGraph Design Group Inc. Releases a Fund Management Application for the United Nations Democracy Fund

ElGraph Design Group, Inc. (http://www.elgraph.com) completed a web-based fund management application for the United Nations Democracy Fund (http://www.undp.org), which was established to promote democracy and values associated with democracy worldwide. The web-based software allows governments worldwide to seek funding for democracy initiatives in their countries by submitting project proposals online. UN staff uses the application to evaluate proposals, track related documents, award funding, and monitor projects' progress.

Design and development of the online application forms presented software engineering and design challenges, as it had to be fast-loading on a dial-up Internet connection in the developing nations, had to support a large variety of browsers, and at the same time needed to use cutting-edge technologies to perform advanced input validation and processing.

The software features AJAX-based forms that change on the fly, depending on user input; thus improving usability by minimizing data entry effort requirements. The user interface is available in several languages in order to accommodate international community.

Working within the constraints imposed by the legacy software system, an existing access control and authentication mechanism, ElGraph Design Group, Inc. created a powerful administrative interface with several levels of access.
