zBoost Introduces New Safety Division Highlighting Adapatble Technology Platform

As part of its ongoing development of innovative technology solutions to meet the needs of our increasingly wireless society, Wi-Ex, the leading provider of consumer cell phone signal boosters, announced today at CTIA (Booth 4507) the launch of its safety division focusing on both personal and public safety. The flexible technology platform has market applications for disaster areas, campuses, first response vehicles, broadcast vehicles, health care facilities, safety and emergency vehicles, as well as public parking decks.

Safety and emergencies are top of mind when it comes to consumers' reason for having a cell phone. According to the zBoost "On the Go" survey, commissioned in March 2008 by Wi-Ex and conducted by Harris Interactive, 83 percent of cell phone owners cite "use in an emergency" as the top reason they have a cell phone. "Personal safety" followed with 66 percent having a cell phone to ensure personal safety.

The zBoost "On the Go" survey found that 74 percent of cell phone owners have used their cell phone in an emergency situation and, of those who have done so, 85 percent have used their phone for car trouble or an accident, 44 percent for a power outage and 11 percent for a natural disasters. The zBoost Safety Division is designed to fit the needs of these consumers and will feature flexible and affordable technology designed for the public and private safety market.

"Our new Safety Division is in direct response to consumer needs - our recent survey reveals just how important personal safety and emergencies are when it comes to consumers and their cell phones," said Lloyd R. Meese, President and CEO of Wi-Ex. "The safety technology platform will make it easy for us to partner with others who are providing safety products that rely on a strong cell phone signal. Our products are designed to help in a variety of areas including disaster areas, campuses, health care facility, safety and emergency vehicles, as well as public parking decks."

The first product by Wi-Ex will be the zBoost Disaster Relief Signal Booster which can be used to provide an enhanced cell phone signal in disaster areas. The division will also feature products focused on other public safety areas including security and emergency vehicles, law enforcement vehicles and heath care facilities. The private safety products will focus on providing enhanced cell phone signal for campuses and public parking decks.

Like all Wi-Ex products, the zBoost Safety Division uses patent-pending technology to protect the carrier network.

zBoost offers a suite of products that improve in-door cell phone signals through the creation of cell zones. They are easy to install, affordable and increase in-building coverage by up to 2500 sq ft. About the zBoost "On the Go" Survey

This survey was conducted online by Harris Interactive on behalf of WiEx between March 14 and March 18, 2008 among 2,387 U.S. adults 18 years of age or older, of whom, 2,114 own a cell phone and 1,582 have used their cell phone in an emergency situation.

Results were weighted as needed on the basis of region, age within gender, education, household income, and race/ethnicity. Propensity score weighting was also used to adjust for respondents' propensity to be online.

All sample surveys and polls, whether or not they use probability sampling, are subject to multiple sources of error which are most often not possible to quantify or estimate, including sampling error, coverage error, error associated with nonresponse, error associated with question wording and response options, and post-survey weighting and adjustments. Therefore, Harris Interactive avoids the words "margin of error" as they are misleading. All that can be calculated are different possible sampling errors with different probabilities for pure, unweighted, random samples with 100% response rates. These are only theoretical because no published polls come close to this ideal.

Respondents for this survey were selected from among those who have agreed to participate in Harris Interactive surveys. The data have been weighted to reflect the composition of the U.S. adult population. Because the sample is based on those who agreed to be invited to participate in the Harris Interactive online research panel, no estimates of theoretical sampling error can be calculated.
