ARX (Algorithmic Research), a leading provider of digital signature (standard electronic signature) and information-assurance solutions, today announced that version 4.6 of its PrivateServer Hardware Security Module (HSM) allows customers to securely output an advanced profile-based PIN mailer to an attached printer, in addition to the basic ability to print simple text. PrivateServer is the only HSM on the market capable of enhancing the design of a mailer without jeopardizing the customer's security.
PIN mailers are secure mechanisms that are used to distribute passwords or PINs (Personal Identification Numbers) via a tamper proof envelope. PIN mailers convey damage should anyone
attempt to access the password or PIN inside, previous to the intended party receiving the mailer.
With this new capability, PrivateServer, which has been successfully deployed at companies including HSBC Bank and Volvo Finance, permits the user to print a PIN mailer containing
customer profile-specific graphical and textual information in addition to the PIN code. The information is printed utilizing a new tamper-evident technology, incorporated in the printing
paper, securing the PIN and guaranteeing that only the end user can reveal their PIN code.
"PrivateServer 4.6's ability to print secure graphical and textual information adds to the long list of customer benefits that the PrivateServer product already provides, including secure
management of keys, strong authentication, customizable interface, and a tamper-evident device", said Ezer Farhi, VP of Research and Development, ARX. "The financial institutions, card
issuers, and governmental organizations requiring security-related deployments that implement PrivateServer benefit from a solution that affords security, scalability and the capacity to
adapt to existing technology and needs."
The advanced PrivateServer's PIN mailer capability further augments the secure faculty that the module provides for cryptographic operations such as EMV card issuance, authorization, and
data preparation. Additionally, the new mode enables organizations and integrators to develop high-level code based on any .NET compatible development environment.
