Contigo, the leading provider of turn-key GPS solutions for asset tracking, fleet management and personal safety announced today that the latest release of their GPS software application now includes the latest Flash-based mapping tools from MapQuest.
Customers of all types will benefit from the improved usability of the new mapping system, as well as the addition of the new "draggable" tiled mapping interface and the integrated
street, aerial and hybrid map views which are now standard across all of Contigo's mapping interfaces, including its 24/7 monitoring portal. The map controls have been developed in Adobe
Flash to provide the best combination of usability, cross platform compatibility, speed and extensibility for new and unique applications.
"Our relationship with MapQuest extends back several years and as the leading provider of internet-based mapping software, the performance, scalability and reliability of the MapQuest
platform is unmatched in the industry," stated Rob Goehring, Contigo's Vice President of Product Management and Marketing. "As our GPS tracking solutions expand further into security, law
enforcement and family safety markets, the integrated aerial mapping tools are a valuable addition to provide location context for non-vehicle applications, particularly in recovery
situations."
The new mapping system has been deployed with a unique architecture that utilizes both the MapQuest Advantage API system as well as the Advantage Enterprise edition simultaneously. With
the API integration, customers benefit from the high performance distributed caching architecture of MapQuest's map server network for map rendering and display, while the Advantage
Enterprise servers hosted by Contigo provide the benefit of custom software integrations into the Contigo platform, including high speed spatial searching capabilities. This architecture
will also support Contigo's expansion into markets outside of North America, and sets the stage for a series of additional mapping features in the future.
