Dreamincode Announces 48Hour Coding Competition

Dream.in.code (http://www.dreamincode.net), a popular programming and web development community with over six thousand members, will be host to the first ever "48 Hours of Code" competition on August 12, 2005.

Programmers of all skill levels and languages will have the opportunity to compete head to head for over $500 worth of prizes.

"We decided to run a competition to give back to the community and help people build on their programming skills," said Chris Kenworthy, founder of the site.

At 10:00 PM EST on August 12, four different programming problems will be announced on the Dream.in.code forums. Participants will have up to 48 hours to complete all four problems of varying difficulty.

The contest is highly unique in several ways.

"Participants may submit solutions to problems in any language, and at any skill level," said Kenworthy. "Our competition is for everybody, not solely the computer science majors," he said.

Competitors will be faced with problems that are challenging in a variety of areas, including structured languages, algorithm design, optimization, and problem analysis.

"This is really a chance for average programmers to put their knowledge to the test," said Charles Lewis, a contest judge.

The winner will receive a set of ProMedia GMX A-2.1 speakers from Klipsch (http://www.klipsch.com), a high performance audio manufacturer and official sponsor of the competition. There are also prizes for second and third place that include books, gift certificates, and web hosting.
