Film and Foil Manufacturer Unveils New Technology

New, innovative scanning technology from FoilFlex Products, Inc. combines with existing invisible embedded security labeling to safeguard brand names and exclusivity deals. Sarah Filus, of The Los Angeles Business Journal, reports that this new technology has the potential to save consumer products' businesses millions of dollars each year that are lost to counterfeiting and illegal distribution.

FoilFlex Products, Inc. specializes in putting security measures such as holography, radio frequency identification devices and light devices on products from golf balls to electronics for inventory control. Three years ago, FoilFlex began using invisible technology inside product labels - tags on shirts, for example - so that merchandise could be identified.

Recent innovations now allow FoilFlex to make that invisible information scanable so products can be tracked from the manufacturing plant to the distributor and to the store. Similar to the tracking technologies employed by major shipping and cargo companies, every stop in the chain will be more accountable to any issues of concern that might arise in the entire production, shipping and delivery process.

In an interview conducted by The Los Angeles Business Journal and reported by BNET Business Network, an online management resource, Richard Fisher, co-founder and vice president of sales for FoilFlex Products, Inc., states, "We have invented this technology for tracing every piece of a product that is made from manufacturing, all the way down to the customers' hands. That way, we can identify where any glitches arose."

Founded in 2004 by Richard Fisher and Michael Dekel, FoilFlex reports annual sales of about $1.5 million and it has doubled in size each year since its inception. Working with primarily Los Angeles-area companies, including Carson-based Dermalogica and Chatsworth-based Sexy Hair, FoilFlex currently has five customers using its invisible technology and more are doing trial runs of the product.
