Industry Veteran Mike Turner Appointed to Phurnace Software Boardof...



Phurnace Software, Inc., the java application deployment company, today announced the appointment of Mike Turner, former CEO and Co-Founder of Waveset Technologies, Inc., to its board of directors. Turner is the fifth appointee to the company'ss board. Waveset, founded in 2000, was acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2003 for a reported $150 million dollars. Mike currently focuses his attention as an Angel investor, corporate director and business advisor.



When Mike was CEO of Waveset, he received the Austin Under 40 award for technology and business innovation and was a finalist for the Ernst 's38; Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. Mike now serves as a judge for the Ernst 's38; Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year award and is a guest lecturer and Moot Corp Judge at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to his role at Waveset, Mike served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Austin Ventures, the largest venture capital firm in the southwest U.S. Previously, Mike served as vice president and general manager of Tivoli Systems's $1.2 billion dollar enterprise business unit, which focused on Information Technology solutions. In 1996, he spearheaded the company'ss entry into the enterprise security space, resulting in revenue growth from zero to $200 million in just two years.
