New Printing and Document Imaging Certification Available from Computing...

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), the world's leading provider of vendor-neutral certifications for technology professionals, today announced the worldwide availability of its newest certification, CompTIA Printing and Document Imaging+ (CompTIA PDI+).

CompTIA PDI+ is a vendor-neutral credential which certifies that an individual has the required baseline technical skills to service and support printing and document imaging devices; as well as the business and communications acumen necessary to provide a high-level of customer service.

"Establishing a uniform standard of performance for printing and document imaging technicians leads to greater productivity and higher first time fix-rates," said Richard Rysiewicz, vice president, services, CompTIA. "That's good news for customers deploying today's advanced printer, copier, scanner, fax and multi-function peripheral devices."

"CompTIA PDI+ certification also will help manufacturers and their channel partners reduce the cost of recruiting, hiring and training the technicians who service and support printing and document imaging devices," Rysiewicz added.

Leading companies in the printing and document imaging market provided subject matter expertise and financial support to develop CompTIA PDI+. These companies include Brother International Corporation; Canon; Data Vault, Inc.; Hewlett Packard; Konica Minolta Business Solutions; Lexmark International; Parts Now!; Pitney Bowes; Ricoh Americas Corporation; Sharp Electronics Corporation; Sharp Electronics of Canada; Specialized Solutions; and Xerox Corporation.

Target candidates for CompTIA PDI+ certification are service technicians, support technicians, help desk staff, and other IT professionals who are responsible for the installation, connectivity, maintenance, repair, and support of printing and document imaging devices. While there are no prerequisites for the certification exam, it is recommended that candidates have foundation-level knowledge and hands-on experience (six to twelve months) working with printing and document imaging devices. CompTIA PDI+ is also relevant for more seasoned technicians in the printing and document imaging industry interested in an industry-accepted credential that validates their knowledge and skills.

To mark the launch of its newest certification, CompTIA is offering exam vouchers for the discounted price of $168 for CompTIA members (individuals and organizations) and $199 for non-members. The special pricing is available through February 29, 2008. After that date, exam vouchers will be priced at $185 for CompTIA members and $232 for non-members.
