WiChorus Chosen by Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan to Showcase...

WiChorus, provider of the industry's most scalable Intelligent Wireless Core Platforms for WiMAX and Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks, has been chosen by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) in Taiwan to demonstrate its SmartCore Platforms alongside Taiwanese vendors as part of a strategic initiative to promote the development of the WiMAX industry in Taiwan.

The demonstration is taking place at the WiMAX Solutions Pavilion organized by M-Taiwan at the WiMAX Forum Operator's summit taking place in Taipei from June 2 through June 6. WiChorus will be demonstrating the end-to-end WiMAX functionality, seamless handoff, advanced content management and service differentiation capabilities of its Access Service Node (ASN) Gateway and Home Agent products. The company will also demonstrate interoperability with key Taiwanese equipment vendors.

The MOEA guides and manages Taiwanese economic development and facilitates technology creation and adoption. The ministry also works to attract telecommunication and information technology companies to partner with Taiwanese businesses to promote innovative technologies.

The Taiwanese government has allocated significant resources to build the WiMAX ecosystem. Through its M-Taiwan Initiative, Taiwan will deploy broadband wireless infrastructure and life-style applications based on WiMAX technology. The government allocated $300 million for WiMAX-related investment under the M-Taiwan project, which runs through 2008.

With its SmartCore family of products, WiChorus is a leader in providing Intelligent Wireless Core Solutions for WiMAX networks. These products deliver advanced ASN Gateway and Home Agent solutions ranging from small appliances to large-capacity, carrier-grade platforms for Mobile WiMAX operators. With advanced functionality such as peer-to-peer traffic management, advanced billing and charging, mobility management, and wire rate performance, WiChorus solutions enable operators to create premium revenue-generating services.

The demonstration serves several key MOEA goals:

- Facilitation of strategic alliances between WiChorus and Taiwanese WiMAX vendors

- Cooperation in developing a global WiMAX ecosystem

- Joint promotion of WiMAX technology through the M-Taiwan initiative

- Facilitation of joint testing among vendors

"Our collaboration with MOEA and the Taiwanese equipment companies for WiMAX development, interoperability and promotion offers exciting possibilities," said Rehan Jalil, president and CEO of WiChorus. "With the help of the Taiwanese government, this collaboration will promote a healthy and open WiMAX eco-system and will help propel the WiMAX industry forward"
