As the critical physical needs of the hundreds of thousands of Hurricane victims are met, the emotional impact of the devastation will emerge. Youth displaced by the hurricane will be in
need of mental healthcare services in order to prevent depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a powerful and persistent reaction to trauma. Teens who experience PTSD are at risk
for developing ongoing mental health concerns, which, if not treated, could affect them for their entire lives.
Through a relationship with the Arts Council of Central Louisiana, Seattle nonprofit organization, Art with Heart, is donating its recently published journal, an art therapy workbook
entitled 's8220;Chill & Spill: A Place to Put it Down and Work It Out,'s8221; to meet the emotional needs of teens dealing with the aftermath of the hurricanes. Along with the
donation of over 1,000 books, Art with Heart will also be conducting training for school counselors and others who wish to learn about how to identify symptoms of PTSD and utilize the
workbooks to aid in emotional healing. They will also conduct artistic workshops with kids in shelters.
The training workshop will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15 in Alexandria. Art with Heart volunteer, co-author and trainer Jeanean Jacobs, MA, ATR-BC, CPAT, CPC is a Registered Art
Therapist, Professional Coach, Juvenile Sexual Offender Counselor, Life Space Crisis Intervention Counselor, and Safe Crisis Manager from Seattle. The training is free and open to school
counselors and other interested parties in Louisiana.
Chill & Spill, was created specifically for youth suffering from trauma-induced stress to help reduce the future impact. The book is a tool to help compensate for the overwhelming
number of youth affected and the limited number of professional mental health counselors available.
The book can be seen or ordered online at www.artwithheart.org/shop. For more information or to make a tax-deductible donation to help Art with Heart distribute books to teens affected by

About Art with Heart
Art with Heart is committed to empowering youth with the tools to deal with crisis through creative publications that foster self-expression. In Seattle, they work directly with children,
partnering with other children's8217;s organizations to supplement and strengthen their artistic outreach. Nationally, they distribute publications that serve to provide an emotional
outlet for children dealing with trauma or serious illness. They believe that creative expression has a profound impact on the mental state of a child as well as long-lasting positive
effects within the community.
